YouTube upheld a Community Guideline Strike against a 2.5 year old half assed video that I would have been fine with simply deleting. This means I lost the right for 6 MONTHS to upload long form vids, plus even be able to dispute other infractions. YouTube has made it clear it has not real concern about content creators. I will continue to upload small videos to this and the other channel, but YT will no longer be my primary focus. If someone with 626K Subs isn't worth a simple phone call there is no argument for why it's worth investing real effort to this platform. How realistic would it be to create a decentralized video sharing platform?
It would essentially work in the same spirit as Openbazaar, only instead of
a decentralized Amazon/ebay-like marketplace it would be kinda like YouTube
but primarily serve as an extra layer of security. In the event something
happens to your channel you'd still be able to connect with anybody
subscribed to your decentralized network behind the scenes.?<br>Hey Eli, you should consider looking at a format where you can stream your
podcasts LIVE also. That way, perhaps you can start an IRC channel, with
embedded webchat on your site(KiwiIRC for example), where you can get live
feedback during your broadcast. It's just an idea. Maybe it's one you've
already thought about, and ruled out, but I just thought I would throw it

loved how technical he was and not just like idk Linus (I know this is
different but just fallow along with me) where he basically just shows you
hardware and some test. Eli goes in-depth about everything on a way that
makes sense while relating it back to something useful. YouTube has enough
money to pay for a relationship between YouTubers and YouTube and not just
say ha you fucked up here is your strike by a email. >$50,000 a year would
be enough to get a courtesy call at least or a person. I get that is all
about money, but it will be benefit YouTube too.

Sorry man.?<br>I've been watching Eli for so long now, this claim on a video 2 1/2 years ago about changing a HTML form from "password" to "text" which apparently counts as hacking according to YouTube, from what I gather he's mostly pissed off at the fact that he didn't even get a phone call or anything because he would have been more than happy to take down the video.<br>YouTube isn't treating content creators like legitimate businesses. This is not appropriate. <br>They *aren't* legitimate businesses.<br>They're creating product, marketing it, and getting paid for it. That's a business. <br>In the *loosest possible terms*, I'll concede that. It might be more fair of me to say then that it's a super risky, highly insecure business with next to no room for growing a valuable career with transferable skills.<br>No transferable skills you say?
Social media management/community management, basic SEO, video editing, audio editing, , writing/copywriting/blogging, sales (vendors, partnerships, etc), small business management (think office manager role since you do this as a YouTuber for yourself), whatever the content you create you are learning about said topics if Pewdiepie decided to leave Let's Plays he could become a video game journalist very quickly, it won't pay the same but it will pay the bills. <br>That doesn't make it a legitimate business, in the sense that you are an employee with proper employment rights. It's more like a combination of gambling and taking donations. You can make a lot of money if you remain successful, but you have next to no security, and no legal recourse if you lose your source of income for no discernable reason. It also doesn't help you grow a professional career with transferable skills that are in demand in higher than minimum wage jobs if you do need to eventually change "careers". If anything it's literally a dead end job.<br>I swear YouTube is staffed by interns.<br>Interns who are SJWs.<br>Most of these incidents are the result of barely reviewed automated flagging systems that are abused by trolls and competitors
Only channels that get a break are the ones that are part of some talent agency with a team of lawyers that can stop google from blocking their stuff using damages as a threat.

This dissatisfaction seems to coming up more frequently now as compared to say a year ago. Maybe it's just a perception bias.<br>More of these stories are just getting out there. Youtube has been stomping out channels randomly for quite a long time now, but now that it's happening to bigger channels we see it a lot more because they can muster social media outrage to try to get the decision reversed. It is really surprising that more and more channels with hundreds of thousands of subs are getting fucked on though.<br>Makes sense. As for Amazon wouldn't be bad either but the problem is the ads would be everywhere and get better at having you buy shit you don't need. Even if he broke the rules fair and square (which is debatable) it doesn't seem like a fair punishment to cripple an account with hundreds of videos over one slip up that could be an honest mistake. The more videos you make, the more chance you might slip up, we are all human.
What's wrong with taking down the offending video, and giving him the option to remove it? Then only apply penalties to the whole account if there are repeated violations that suggest bad intentions or gross incompetence?

I see his complaint, but the choice of language - while "real" - definitely didn't help his argument. Still, good to here he has options and will move on to greener pastures. The more that leave the more likely a new platform will be made.<br>
