I see Super 8 shares the same Physics as the Fast & Furious movies...? The entire VFX team just unleashed their unholy wrath upon the kids in this scene? kill me......? I would be the kid saying holy shit poor train? LOL in the shot at 6:29, look at the kids (bottom right corner) they are WAY too small. to know, look at the wheels of train car laying on its side as they run past it. when you compare their height to the length of the space between then wheels(where they would line up on the track), you will notice that the kids are shorter. since this is an American train, and the space between rails on American railroads is 4.5 feet across, that would mean that these kids are less than four feet tall. I spent WAY too much time on this.? In that kind of situation, would it best for them to have stuck together or spread out?? this would make FAR more sense if they said the train was made out of fucking cotton swabs and the truck was a fucking tornado, and if the train was going 150 MPH. THAT DRIFT THO!? Im just here because I found the e1912 map in Portal 2 by accident....? Now looking at it Stranger Things is better in comparison.? trains are so overly dramatic ????? elle fanning acting skill is very moving? One of the most visually incredible sequences i have ever seen in a film. Was in awe the first time i watched it.? Insane, The train crashes insanely, 1 kid runs in the opposite direction, 2 hit the deck 3 run through the debris, HOW ARE THEY ALIVE??? How did the 2 kids survive when the building got nuked? And how does a boxcar door fly off randomly?? Is this even really nessessary to do?? Does anyone know what the model of the super 8 camera is ,that they use for their little movie?? I Still don't understand why Valve added Super 8 to Portal 2...? And this is what happens when you let Michael bay drive the train? that was fatal...? Loved this movie, after trying to watch Stranger Things!! But, hey, you have to start somewhere, and ST gave a lot of people work!!!? ITS SO FUNNY? Did anyone die?? Holy snikes? Woah this scene is intense. This will always be one of my favorite moves. Mainly because I see myself in those kids when I was younger and always loved movies and wanted to make my own movie one day. Out of all of them I see myself mostly in Joe Lamb. Just the way he's carries himself, he's quiet, friendly, nice and underneath he's very emotional. He'll do anything for his friends and very loyal to them. I love the way he puts the make-up on Alice and looks so tensely and closely at her, admiring her beauty and taking her in. It's so innocent and sweet. Especially when he asks her to close her eyes. I'm a female, yet I'm like this when I admire a man I'm in love with. I study every little thing about him and admire him. This movie spoke to me and I think it's so beautifully written. A lot of people say it's a kids movie which it may be true but I admired it. The director found a lot of great little actors playing the kids and they acted so well in this movie. Especially Cary how he's always blowing stuff up. I laughed every single time he was on screen. Each character was written great. People just look to look at it at a different perspective and enjoy a movie without analyzing every little thing that what they did wrong with it. If you walked out of the theater feeling happy and good inside, that's a good movie in my eyes. If you walked out not moved at all, than that movie wasn't for you and I'm sure you'll find one that does. That's why I love movies and independent films so much. Anytime I find one that speaks to me, I'll always cherish it and admire it forever. Why did that guy crash to the train?? Meanwhile his mom walked into the room, saw this post on his laptop, sighed and went back to pquigs in the other room, got under the covers and complained to him about how her son is just a dumb POS. Pquigs asked her to forget her son and they spent the rest of the night in a passionate, sweaty, smelly sex. Next morning when she woke up she couldn't find pquigs anywhere. It was competent and well-shot, but the story wasn't particularly compelling imo. Also the protagonists could have done absolutely nothing and the film would have played out in exactly the same way. Monster would have gotten away regardless. The one thing they did do, which was save the girl, didn't really matter because the monster was about to leave anyways, so she would have been rescued after. Definitely not, people always cry for a film with "Spielberg magic" but for some reason they expected Super 8 to be Cloverfield 2... It didn't have Spielberg magic though. Like a lot of JJ stuff it's more of a Spielberg impression without the charm. I enjoyed it but it's pretty average. I think that it did a good enough job calling back to the Spielberg focus on nostalgia and family, I think it felt short in the delivery of its monster. I think there's an implicit bias against monsters that are fully revealed from the jump (slasher flicks) and the more "artistic" choice to withhold a reveal for suspense (Alien, Jaws). Each has their place and can be done to great affect, and one isn't inherently better than the other. It depends on the movie; look at The Host for example. I remember when the monster in Super 8 was revealed it felt completely unearned, kinda silly even if I remember correctly. I remember thinking he clearly was going for the Jaws thing that Spielberg did but that JJ didn't deliver at the same level. The shark in Jaws was hidden largely for practical reasons, but those reasons serve the narrative in that it's, you know, hidden under water. Super 8 felt to me like it was trying a little too hard. Fine movie, just not great. All I want in a movie is E.T. plus Empire Strikes Back plus a smirk from Indiana Jones plus a slice of my mother's warm apple pie plus my dad to tell me he's proud of me. every movie doesn't get enough recognition if someone suddenly wants to talk about. It's mint I liked the movie but the problem with the train scene was that the train would have gone through that truck like it wasn't there. This is my biggest problem, it pisses me off. The whole movie is initiated by something that would have never happened. Edit: just watched it again, it was worse than I remember! This is bullshit. I don't think it's even derailed here despite travelling slow, being hit at an angle, and the force of a semi and 8 cars it has to move/destroy to keep going There's a good chance that the driver was *trying* to derail the train and loaded his car with explosives. Plus, it's a kids movie about aliens... Iirc, there's a scene much later in the movie where they explain exactly that. You're correct.
