Ben Krasnow has a reputation for building very advanced scientific instruments in his garage. His philosophy is to Build First and Ask Questions later. This philosophy served him well when he attempted to answer the question if x-ray backscatter machines are more effective than metal detectors. Ben whipped up one of these machines in his garage using parts purchased from eBay. It worked, and Ben was able to detect metal objects hiding under a sweater.
